ArtsFI enjoyed another tour in Kansas in2016! In addition to our continued work in Garden City, we returned to Lawrence and partnered once more with Lawrence Arts Center. In 2015, our Artist Residency provided an incredible opportunity to work with the students of Garden City High School every day for two weeks. This allowed us to create our own unique workshop model and work with the students closely.

As the Executive Director, I also feel strongly that our ensemble needs the space to push past our own creative boxes, which is exactly what Walt Whitman did for us with The Sleepers. We also continued our workshops with the students and had an amazing experience finding our individual interpretation of Walt Whitman's poem, The Sleepers.  We especially enjoyed working with visual artist Valeria Lombo and composer Sam Reising on The Sleepers.
